In an effort to encourage the use of renewable energy in Punjab, Chief Minister Maryam Safdar has revealed a plan to provide free solar systems to 50,000 homes. These solar systems are aimed at households that consume less than 100 units of electricity per month, with each system comprising two solar panels, batteries, an inverter, and wiring.
Emphasizing the importance of quality, the Chief Minister has directed authorities to ensure that only high-quality materials are used in these systems. Additionally, she suggested the installation of solar panels for homes using up to 300 units of electricity or less.
This initiative follows a significant drop in the price of solar panels in Lahore markets last month. The cost of a 7-kilowatt system decreased by Rs. 1,000,000 to Rs. 825,000, while the new price for a 10-kilowatt system was set at Rs. 1,125,000.
