The Punjab government has announced an opportunity for students to apply for electric and petrol bikes under the Punjab Chief Minister’s scheme. The deadline for applications is April 29.
Deputy Commissioner Multan, Rizwan Qadeer, emphasized that providing bikes to students would not only tackle pollution but also empower them. A meeting chaired by him highlighted the importance of effectively advertising the scheme and organizing a road show for awareness.
These bikes, both electric and petrol, are expected to contribute to reducing road accidents. The government plans to distribute 20,000 bikes to students through a balloting draw, including 19,000 petrol bikes and 1,000 electric bikes. Additionally, measures were discussed to increase the number of pink buses to better serve women passengers in the city.
The meeting, which included Regional Transport Secretary Rana Mohsin and various other district administration officers, focused on implementing these initiatives effectively.
