Punjab’s Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz and PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif recently convened a significant meeting to discuss upgrading the transportation infrastructure across the province. The meeting prioritized projects such as an underground train system in Lahore and metro bus implementations in three Punjab cities. Maryam Nawaz highlighted the importance of meticulous planning for the Lahore underground train project. Decisions were made regarding metro bus projects, with a focus on transportation aspects like student bike allocations. Nawaz Sharif emphasized increasing the availability of motorbikes for students and minimizing monthly installments to alleviate financial burdens. To support this, the government plans to offer 19,000 petrol bikes and 1,000 electric bikes on interest-free monthly installments, with lower installment amounts. A quota system ensures equal opportunities for male and female students, with an eco-friendly initiative involving 27 electric buses in Lahore. Maryam Nawaz instructed prompt action to initiate the bike scheme before Eid, aiming for widespread participation and timely bike distribution across Punjab.
