Rain and Winds Expected to Cool Lahore and Punjab

ongoing rain and thunderstorms in punjab and karachi

Rain and strong winds are expected in Lahore and various parts of Punjab starting Tuesday evening and continuing for the next two days. These weather changes will help cool down the current heat wave by lowering temperatures.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) reports that continental air is currently dominant in most parts of Pakistan, with high pressure in the upper atmosphere likely to continue until May 28. A shallow westerly wave is expected to impact the upper parts of the country beginning the evening of May 28.

Because of these conditions, the heat wave in Lahore and the plains of Punjab is likely to continue on Tuesday, with temperatures rising 4 to 6°C above normal. Intermittent rain, wind, and thunderstorms are expected from Tuesday evening until June 1, gradually easing the heat wave.

In Lahore, maximum temperatures are expected to be between 43-45°C on Tuesday and 42-44°C on Wednesday.

In the past 24 hours, the heat wave persisted in Lahore and the plains of Punjab. Bhakkar and Rahim Yar Khan recorded the highest temperatures in the province at 50°C, while Kot Addu and Dera Ghazi Khan reached 49°C. In Lahore, the maximum temperature was 44°C, with evening humidity at 36 percent.

My Opinion:

It’s a relief to know that rain and wind are expected to bring some coolness to Lahore and Punjab. The heat has been intense, and these changes will provide much-needed comfort. It’s important for everyone to stay informed about the weather and take necessary precautions during this period of fluctuating temperatures.
