The Central Ruet-i-Hilal Committee declared that Eidul Fitr would be observed on Wednesday, April 10, following the sighting of the Shawwal moon.
The announcement was made subsequent to a gathering of the Central Ruet-i-Hilal Committee at the Federal Secretariat’s Kohsar Block in Islamabad. Simultaneously, meetings of zonal and district Ruet-i-Hilal committees took place at their respective headquarters.
Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad chaired the meeting, attended by members of the Ruet-i-Hilal Committee, officials from the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), Suparco, and the Ministry of Science and Technology.
Following the meeting, Maulana Azad addressed a press conference, stating that reports of moon sightings had been received from various parts of the country, confirming the celebration of Eid on the following day.
Azad mentioned the sighting of the moon in locations such as Karachi, Dir, Faisalabad, Skardu, among others. He extended congratulations to the nation and emphasized the significance of unity conveyed by Eid falling on the same day.
He urged all segments of society to progress collectively for the nation’s betterment and honored the sacrifices made by the armed forces for ensuring peace.

Several countries worldwide will join in celebrating Eidul Fitr on Wednesday, as the crescent was not sighted on Monday. Pakistan will align its Eid celebration accordingly. However, India and Bangladesh, where the moon wasn’t sighted, will observe Eidul Fitr on Thursday.
Countries including Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Kuwait, and Australia are among those celebrating Eid on the upcoming day.
According to the Meteorological Department, there’s a possibility of moon sighting today based on astronomical parameters. Weather forecasts indicate partly cloudy or fair conditions prevailing in most parts of the country.
