During a televised briefing, Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari, the chief military spokesperson, described Iran’s actions as “very grave.” He emphasized that these actions could escalate tensions in the region.
This attack follows Iran’s unprecedented strike on Israel with drones and missiles on Saturday, marking a significant escalation in the ongoing conflict between the two nations.
Reporters from Agence France-Presse (AFP) heard explosions in the skies above Jerusalem early Sunday, indicating the intensity of the attack.
Iran had previously threatened to retaliate against Israel for an airstrike on its Damascus consular annexe on April 1, which resulted in fatalities. The United States had issued multiple warnings in recent days, indicating the likelihood of such reprisals.
