Officials from the Livestock Department of Punjab suggest there might be collusion among chicken industry members, possibly using secretive WhatsApp groups to control prices.
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has expressed serious concerns over these allegations and promises action against anyone taking advantage of consumers.
To tackle the issue, the Chief Minister has initiated strict measures targeting both poultry farmers and traders. These stakeholders are asked to provide data on their stock levels to investigate the sudden price surge.
Furthermore, the Competition Commission of Pakistan has stepped in, acknowledging the seriousness of the situation. They have summoned all relevant stakeholders to explain the significant increase in chicken prices.
