The Punjab Environment Protection Department aims to mark World Earth Day on Monday, April 22, 2024. Ansar Abbas Siyaal, Assistant Director of the department, stated in a press release that preparations have been underway to observe the day.
The primary goal is to educate people about the environmental threats facing our planet. Siyaal emphasized the importance of avoiding actions that contribute to air pollution, such as the use of plastic and its subsequent large-scale burning, which poses significant risks to the environment.
Burning plastic releases harmful pollutants into the air, making it toxic. Additionally, the department plans to collaborate with civil society to organize a walk to further promote awareness on this issue.
